DENISE ALEXANDER

A LIBERATED LOVER

1982

Though Denise has been involved for many years with director Richard Colla,
she isn't anxious to enter into marriage. Love has a definiteplace in her life,
but she holds onto her independence with kid gloves.

"I'm interested in an awful lot of things," says Denise Alexander, who portrays Dr. Leslie Webber on General Hospital. One look Denise's bio and you know this is true!

She once owned an antique shop. Besides the antique shop, she's a published photographer! To describe Denise as a "human dynamo" is to surely understate the case.

Born on Long Island, N.Y., she moved to Los Angeles when her father, an agent who handled at that point such notables as Frank Gorshin and Sal Mineo, decided to make the switch from the east to the west coast. A successful child actress, Denise racked up literally thousands of performing credits on TV and radio by the time she was a junior at UCLA. If you stay up late and watch reruns, you can catch her in such famous old shows as Twilight Zone, Dobie Gillis, Ben Casey and Father Knows Best. She even made her feature movie debut at age fourteen in the John Cassavetes film Crime In The Streets.

Completing a B.A. in English at UCLA, she intended to work in journalism or international diplomacy, but an opportunity to join the cast of NBC's Days Of Our Lives soon found her performing once again. She portrayed the character of Susan Martin for six-and-a-half years and was always tops in the viewer polls-as she is today in her role as Leslie Webber on General Hospital, the cast of which she joined in 1973.

Denise is single, although she has been involved for many years with director Richard Colla. They both share many interests (such as the wildlife refuge) and recently she helped him direct on location in Montana. They've talked about marriage, but at this moment seem happy with the way things are: being in love and independent. But who knows what tomorrow will bring for busy Denise and her beau?
