Tristan is every
bit as mysterious and volatile as the GH character he portrays, but wife
Barbara does her best to keep him content and cool.
It seems appropriate that
-Tristan Rogers plays an undercover agent on GH, because in many ways
he's a mystery man in real life; not in the sense that his activities and
plans are secrets, but that the inner core of his soul and personality is
laden with unpredictability. His wife, for example, has no way of knowing
which Tristan Rogers is going to come home after a day at the studio; the
happy Tris, or the melancholy one. It sounds like living with Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde ... or Rock Hudson crossed with Bela Lugosi.
Tristan
Roger's unpredictability extends through his entire life. Although his
family had plans for Tris to become a draftsman and settle down, he ended up
becoming 1) a top European male model, 2) a top English disc
jockey in the largest disco on the entire continent, and 3) a leading
star in Australian soap operas. In fact, Tris is an Australian, having been
born in Melbourne in 1946.
Tristan's sexiness is no secret, and it's
propelled him throughout his career. Mixed with his air of unpredictability,
it makes for a combination that few women can resist. Especially his wife
Barbara, who contends with his changing moods because he can give her a
gentleness few men are capable of. Barbara, also Australian, is an actress
herself, but at this time she is putting her own career in the number-two
slot. She's proud of Tris's success, and she feels that if she also had a
busy acting schedule, she wouldn't be able to share herself with him in the
manner she likes: "People who both have high powered careers going must
just pass in the night."
So she tends to this remarkable man,
this creator of Robert Xavier Scorpio. When he's down she stays out of the
way, holding off on sharing her own troubles until her man has a chance to
cool down from his rough day; and sometimes she even has to encourage him to
eat when his moodiness gets too great.
But when Tristan is up things
are just fine, and from the sound of her words, Barbara wouldn't trade him
for anybody else anywhere.
